Who we are

Gwent Charity Brass are a group of musicians whose aim is to support charity fundraising while enjoying making music in good company.

2020
Sadly this year Gwent Charity Brass have been unable to visit the island of Menorca.  Every one of them has missed participating in the Easter celebrations, the concerts and in particular the sessions with the young musicians of Es Castell and San Lluis.

The players have made many friends on the island and they are in their thoughts at this difficult time. One thing is certain, the Band intends to return and plans are in hand for Easter 2021 when, once again, Gwent Charity Brass can join in with the Celebrations, support Rotary International's fundraising and make music for and with the people of Menorca.

Gwent Charity Brass and Menorca  - 2019 - A Year to Remember

2019 was the 20th Anniversary of the first ever visit of a Brass Band to Menorca to take part in the Semana Santa Processions.

In 2000, Lana Tingay brought her then Band, Friezland, from Saddleworth in the North of England, to Menorca.  There has been no turning back and a British Brass Band has become a traditional sight in the Semana Santa celebrations.
Lana now directs Gwent Charity Brass during the Easter Tours.

During the 2017 Easter Tour the Mayoress of Mahon honoured Lana Tingay and the Band for the contribution made to Mahon's Easter celebrations since 2000.

In 2016 Lana, Gwent Charity Brass
musical director, was honoured by the Rotary Club of Menorca and awarded Honorary Life Membership.

The band looks forward to continuing its long and fruitful association with the Island in 2020.
